Eric Cantona

Former Manchester United captain Eric Cantona is confident Manchester United will return to the top ‘very soon’ following the club’s 3-0 home defeat to rivals Manchester City on Tuesday.

Since David Moyes taking over last summer, The Red Devils have endured their worst ever season in the Premier League era, with back-to-back Old Trafford defeats in the top-flight this month leaving the side seventh in the standings , 12 points off a top-four finish and the Club have broken many unwanted records.

However, Eric Cantona, one of the greatest players to play for Manchester United, is convinced the club will return to winning ways.

“Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world. They have been at the highest level for 20 years, and I think they will come back very, very soon,” he told SkySports.

“At every big club it is sometimes like this, but they have proved in the past they have the level to come back and I’m sure Manchester United will come back very soon.

“I think he has a long-term project. ” the Frenchman added.

“At the moment it is not very good, but maybe next year it will be great and everybody will see. But I think he is strong enough to handle the pressure.”

Eric Cantona won four Premier League titles and two FA Cup crowns during his time at Manchester United.
