One of Uganda’s leading women of courage, Owek. Hajat Rehmah Kasule has been honoured with the Goldman Sachs and Fortune Global Women Leaders Award.
She received the award on October 7th during Fortune’s Most Powerful Women (MPW) Summit 2014 in Laguna Niguel, California.
MPW Summit which started as a list 16 years ago has evolved into the world’s most extraordinary leadership community bringing together the most powerful women in Business – along with select leaders in government, philanthropy, education, and the arts—for wide-ranging and inspiring discussions.
Rehmah together with two other MPW from Brazil and U.S.A were recognized for working hard and transforming their businesses and communities.
Apart from receiving the award, Rehmah also took part in one-on one interviews, panel discussions, interactive breakout sessions and high level networking with other participants who included Gary Cohn – President and CO-Owner of The Goldman Sachs Group; Ginni Rometty – Chairman, President, and CEO, IBM; Megan Smith, United States Chief Technology Officer; Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet.
Rehmah Kasule is the founder and President of CEDA International and a role model for women in Uganda. This is not the first time she is being recognized internationally for her hard work.
Her Rising Stars project won the U.S State Department Innovation Award for impacting over 12,000 girls in secondary schools and universities in Uganda. Rehmah is also a winner of the International Alliance for Women – World of Difference 100 Award 2011. Her work was also recognized at the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship in Washington DC – 2009 during which she met President Obama.
This motivated her to write a book titled “FROM GOMBA TO THE WHITE HOUSE – The Journey of An African Woman Entrepreneur”.
