Ugandans Nakaayi and Nanyondo cruise to 800m semi-finals

Uganda athlete Halimah Nakaayi will join comrade Winnie Nanyondo in the Olympics women’s 800 meters Semi-final at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. This is after Nakaayi posted a time of 2.00.92 finishing 4th in heat 2.

The time posted was enough for her to qualify.

Teammate Winnie Nanyondo also completed 2nd in heat 1 to book a place in the July 31 Women’s 800m semi-finals after she clocked 2:02.02 only behind France’s Rénelle Lamote 2.01.91 at the 2020 Olympics in Japan.

The semifinals are scheduled to start at 2:50 PM on Saturday.

Meanwhile, male athletes Kiplimo, Cheptegei, and Kissa Stephen will race for Team Uganda in the Men’s 10,000m final at 2:30 PM.
