Matt B’s album Alkebulan II clinched the Best Global Music Album award at the 2025 Grammy Awards, shining a spotlight on the talents of Ugandan songwriters Rulz and Zigi Nana, who contributed to the project.
Rulz, one of the songwriters behind the award-winning album, expressed his elation on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “GRAMMY WINNING SONGWRITER #GRAMMYs Allah is so good to me!!!!!”
Despite facing challenges, including visa delays that prevented Rulz and Zigi Nana from traveling to the U.S. for the ceremony, the songwriters remained overjoyed by the recognition their work received on such a prominent stage.
Alkebulan II triumphed over a competitive field of nominees, including Paisajes by Ciro Hurtado, HEIS by Nigerian artist Rema, Historias De Un Flamenco by Antonio Rey, and Born in the Wild by Tems.
Congratulations to them.
