Amaru is a Ugandan born singer and songwriter currently based in New York City, USA. She came in the spotlight with her single “Stay” and became talk of the town when the little known singer got several nods in the inaugural Club Music Video Awards where she went on to win two out of the four categories in which she had been nominated. She won the Best New Comer Video for “Stay” and also the Best Female Video of the year for the same song.
Even when she was not readily accepted at home, Amaru is undisputedly talented. And just like the prophets who were despised at home but revered elsewhere, the singer’s talent is being appreciated overseas. Amaru has just earned herself a coveted place in the Hillsong church choir. The elated singer could not hold back tears of joy (I imagine) as she shared the news on her facebook timeline. She posted:
“I just got word that I passed auditions to join the Hillsong Church New York City choir!! I am so excited and feel super blessed and grateful for this new opportunity to serve and grow as a musician and a person within my amazing home church right in this city! #FeelingSoBlessed #Grateful#ThanksLord #OverwhelmedWithJoy”
