Big Talent CEO and BET award winning artiste, Eddy Kenzo was nominated in the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) in the category of Best Live Act.
The singer who is up against Mr Flavour from Nigeria, Stonebwoy from Ghana, Casper Nyovest from South Africa and Mafiki Zolo from South Africa will not have it easy if he wants to win.
To show their support, several local artistes have joined their fans to support Kenzo to bring the award home. Key among these is his wife Rema, Bruno K and Eddy Wizzy.
Bruko K begged his fans to vote for the Sitya Loss singer because he is representing Ugandan music internationally. “Am on my knees guys please help me vote my brother Eddy Kenzo for the MTV MAMA award. Do this as many times as possible if you love Uganda coz he is representing us musically on the international level.”
This comes at a time when some industry heads are skeptical about supporting Kenzo after the BET issue. According to one of the panelists on a local entertainment show on Delta TV called Akasigiri, Kenzo was supported by most musicians in Uganda when he was the only Ugandan nominated for a BET award back in 2014, when he won, he became conceited and forgot those who helped him get the award.
“That is why all big artistes don’t even come for his shows. He forgot everyone after winning and started even talking ill of them. I don’t know if many musicians will help him this time round. It was not a one man show, it was about. He shouldn’t repeat the same mistake,” the panelist said.
