Hollywood based Ugandan actor Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine will have his first short film ‘Kuhani’ premiere in New York at the Lincoln centre as part of the New York-African festival next month (May).
Ntare’s breakout came with his one man play ‘Biro’ in which he depicted an HIV Positive Ugandan man battling with his infection while living in the USA. He has appeared in many movies including Blood Diamonds with Leonardo D’caprio.
Kuhani is an experimental short inspired by Ugandan Catholic priest Father Anthony Musaala’s open letter to Bishop’s, Priests, and Laity titled “The Failure of Celibate Chastity among Diocesan Priests.”
Father Musaala is one of many Ugandans who have been persecuted as a result of the country’s recently passed Anti Homosexuality Act.
The movie is directed by Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine and features Charlotte Cornwell, Anania Ngoliga, Abiodun Ojora, Irene Sanga, Martin Ssempa and Ruben Carmen Williams.
