Several Ugandan media personalities are shifting gears from the entertainment and journalism industries to active politics, with many announcing aspirations to contest for parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections.

Here’s a look at some notable figures and their political ambitions:

Flavia Namulindwa

The former Bukedde TV presenter is eyeing the Gomba East Constituency seat in Parliament. After an unsuccessful bid in 2021, Namulindwa is back in Uganda after spending five years in the USA, ready to relaunch her political career with renewed determination.

Joyce Bagala

A former NBS TV news anchor, Bagala is the current Woman MP for Mityana District. She made headlines in 2021 after defeating Judith Nabakooba, the then-Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development. Bagala has expressed her intention to seek re-election for the same position.

Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa

Zambaali, a prominent NBS TV news anchor and talk show host, is making his political debut by contesting for the Nansana Municipality parliamentary seat.

Joel Ssenyonyi

The former UBC and NTV journalist, now a Member of Parliament for Nakawa West, has made a name for himself as the spokesperson for the National Unity Platform (NUP) and Leader of Opposition in Parliament. Ssenyonyi plans to seek re-election but faces stiff competition from his former media colleague, Miles Rwamiti.

Joseph Sabiti

Currently serving as the Principal Press Secretary to the Speaker of Parliament, Sabiti, a former NBS TV journalist, has declared his intention to run for the Okoro County seat in Zombo District.

Miles Rwamiti

A former Urban TV and NTV Uganda personality, Rwamiti is gearing up for a political rematch.

After an unsuccessful attempt in Hoima in 2021, he now aims to unseat Joel Ssenyonyi in Nakawa West.

Famed for his comedic duo Maulana & Reign, Reign has joined the political fray, aspiring to represent Lubaga South in Parliament on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket.
