Many people in the local film industry, both video and film makers, have started to appreciate the industry and moved to the right direction by starting to acquire more sophistiscated equipment including drone cameras, sound gadgets and others and this had started giving a huge boost to our industry.
However, according to reports, the government is planning to ban the importation of aerial drone cameras on the advise of some security operatives.
Government has been tipped that importation of these gadgets would compromise the security of the country where by these drones can be used in abetting criminal activity. A dossier was issued in this regard and the officers in charge therefore have taken an effort to inform all the industry stake holders in possession of drones to register them with URA as soon as possible for security purposes.
This comes shortly after close to 25 drones were impounded at Entebbe airport on their way into the country and the importor could hardly explain quite well the purpose of importing such sensitive equipment.
