Ugandan defender, Yakubu Ramathan has become the 17th signing for Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards in the recently closed January transfer window. The former Bright Stars’ defender joined AFC Leopard on a two year deal from Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU).
Dani Molly, the club chairman expressed his joy of having acquired the defender saying that; “We know the quality of players that Ugandans are and in particular Yakubu. He is a great player and we welcome him with open hands.”
Yakubu agreed to terms in which he will receive a sign-on-fee of $10,000 while he will be paid $2,000 per month as salary.
The defender becomes the 17th player to be signed by the Leaopards as they prepare for the new 2016 Kenyan Premier League season in which they also earned themselves a mega shirt sponsorship deal worth Ugx 1billion per annum for the next five years from Sports Pessa.
Among those signed is a goalkeeper, Edwin Mukolwe from Kakamega High School.
Defenders; Eugene Ambulwa (West Sugar, Kenya), Yusuf Juma (KCB), Andrew Diego and John Opwora (Moi University).
Midfielders; Allan Kateregga (A Ugandan left winger), Kennedy Owino (Nakuru All Stars), Hedmond Mauda (Western Stima), Dennis Nzomo (Mathare United), Simon Abuko (Oserian F.C), Bernard Ongoma (Talanta F.C) and Tom Murila (Ligi Ndogo F.C).
Strikers; Kepha Aswanai, Alfred ‘Kemboi’ Wekesa (Kakamega Homeboyz F.C), Andrew Tolowa (Mathare United) and Geofrey Ouma (Chemlil Sugar).
