It was all smiles for the Uganda Golf team over the weekend as they won the 2016 edition of the East African Golf Challenge in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa and their 6th overall in 18 editions.
Like the case was in 2010, Uganda were crowned champions despite having similar points with rivals and record champions Kenya (16), who have won the annual competition 11 times.
The Amos Kamya-coached side brings the title home for the third consecutive time having won it in 2014 when the Pearl of Africa hosted the tournament at the Entebbe Golf Club before defending it in Kigali, Rwanda in 2015.
Five teams participated in the competition after Burundi pulled out at the last moment while hosts Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania were spectators as the Ugandan team collected their medals from the winner’s podium.
