Uganda Sand Cranes made Uganda proud when they overcame Zanzibar with a 5-4 victory on Sunday at the Bamboo Sand beach in Bububu in an international beach soccer friendly. Both teams were using the match as one of their preparation procedures as they await to play in the forth coming AFCON Beach Soccer Championships that will be hosted by Seychelles in April 2015.
In a very close and entertaining encounter on the day, the hosts Zanzibar took an early lead when their team captain Saleh Yusuf notched in about 5minutes but their lead only lasted a mosquito’s life when the Uganda Sand Cranes’ captain, Derrick Tekko lead by example with an equalizer in the 7th minute.
A brace from Brian Nkuubi helped Uganda carry the day. Derrick Tekko, Roch Somoka and Baker Lukooya were the other players on the Uganda Sand Cranes’ score sheet on the evening.
