The Uganda Rugby committee has announced the Uganda Rugby cup will kick off this Saturday 26th, 2014 at Kyadondo rugby grounds and on other rugby grounds that have been named by the committee. The tournament began way back in 2000 and the committee stressed that the candle of rugby has to be kept burning if the game is to continue to develop in the country.
The tournament shall be played on all major rugby grounds around the country such as, Legends rugby ground, Kyadondo rugby grounds, Makerere, Gulu rugby ground among others.
The committee stressed that the tournament will involve all rugby teams from the first and second division following their registration. The committee however further revealed that 16 clubs have been registered to participate in the tournament.
Despite its start in 2000, only three clubs have been crowned champions among which are Kobs who are the most winners of this tournament with 7 trophies, Heathens who won it from its start in 2000-2004 consecutively and Pirates who won it in 2007.
We hope to see new champions from the usual ones.
