According to the latest FIFA rankings that were released this week on Thursday, Uganda has improved by three places, from 70th position to the 67th place.

Uganda who rose to 62nd as their highest position in December 2015 had dropped to as far 70th by February 2016 especially following their poor performance at the CHAN finals in Rwanda in January.

The pearl of Africa have however improved to 67th and more importantly being ranked 13th in Africa and also kept their top spot in the CECAFA region.

While Belgium remains at the top of the World FIFA rankings, Cape Verde Islands leapfrogged Ivory Coast to be ranked as Africa’s number one.

In the meantime, the Cranes are preparing to take on Burkina Faso this month in the 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers. The doubled legged fixture will be played in a space of just four days.

In other crucial rankings; Burkina Faso are 86th, Botswana is 92nd while Comoros are 173rd as far as Uganda’s Group D opponents are concerned.

For the CECAFA region; Uganda 67th, Rwanda 85th, Kenya 103rd, Ethiopia 120th, Tanzania 125th, Burundi 129th, Sudan 135th, South Sudan 140th, Djibouti (204th), Eritrea (204th), Somalia (204th)
