Uganda Police have officially acknowledged the arrest of John Kato Ssenfuma, a 40-year-old teacher from Mityana, who stands accused of attempting to engage in inappropriate activities with his 15-year-old student.
Videos circulating on social media since Tuesday depict Mr. Ssenfuma pleading for mercy from the parents of the minor involved.
In these widely shared videos, Ssenfuma is seen on his knees, providing his name, age, and detailing his alleged intentions concerning the unidentified young girl.
It has come to light through leaked WhatsApp conversations that he purportedly used monetary incentives to lure the student into a compromising situation. The situation escalated when the girl’s parents apprehended Ssenfuma during a visit to their home.
According to a statement released by the police on Wednesday, the guardian of the student utilized WhatsApp to uncover Ssenfuma’s inappropriate advances, subsequently leading to his apprehension.
The police further clarified that Ssenfuma’s attempt did not succeed, emphasizing the severity of the allegations as he now faces detention on charges of attempting to defile a minor.
