The Uganda national netball team, She Cranes, have been ranked 4th in Africa and 15th in the world according to the recent world netball rankings. The She Cranes recorded an unbeaten run at the recently concluded Africa netball world cup qualifiers earning them a top spot with maximum points (10 points) at the round robin championship. The She Cranes qualified for the World Cup due August next year in Sydney, Australia.
Zambia’s Chipolopolo ladies joined the She Cranes after defeating Zimbabwe 47-42 to sum up the total of four countries that will represent Africa at the netball world cup in Sydney next year. The She Cranes and the chipolopolo ladies joined South Africa and Malawi who had already earned their spots at the tourney.
The team returned on Monday and were welcomed home by the state minister for sports, Charles Bakabulinde together with other officials from the national council of sports and the netball federation plus MPs like Sarah Nkonge who promised to organise a meeting for the team with the president.
