Uganda will host Malawi in an international friendly on July 14, five days before facing Equatorial Guinea in the final round of the 2015 Nations Cup preliminary qualifiers.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa) on Tuesday confirmed that the match, which will help Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic fine-tune his players ahead of the Afcon qualifier, will be played at Mandela National Stadium.
Fufa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edgar Watson welcomed the development: “We are glad to land this friendly because it will come at the most appropriate time when the Cranes are tuning up for the game against Equatorial Guinea,” Watson told the federation website.
Uganda face Equatorial Guinea on July 19 while Malawi play Benin the same weekend as both nations continue the journey to Morocco 2015.
The Cranes have since Monday been training in Kampala. They start the first of two regional tours, also part of the build-up to the Afcon qualifier, on Saturday.
Micho leads his men to the Western district in Mbarara on Saturday where they will play an exhibition game against a selected local side before proceeding to Soroti, Eastern Uganda, next weekend.
