As we head into the third and final round of the qualifiers stage for the 2015 Africa Youth championships that are due in January 2015 in Niger, the Uganda Cubs departed the country yesterday morning for Lusaka, Zambia.
The Uganda national U-17 team are set to play Zambia in CAF U-17 African Youth championship qualifier on Friday. The Cubs beat Rwanda (7-2 on aggregate) in the second round to qualify for the third playoff to face Zambia who beat Botswana (6-1 on aggregate) in their second round.
According to sources, the team was composed of 18 players and other 6 officials that were under the leadership of FUFA’s head of women affairs, Mariam Kaliga.
“The boys have been physically and mentally prepared for this away fixture, we expect a positive result come Friday”, head coach Matia Lule told FUFA website before their departure at Entebbe. The team will then return and host Zambia in a fortnight at Namboole and the winner on aggregate after both legs will qualify for the finals of the African Youth Championships.
