The Uganda Cubs have continued with preparations ahead of the third and final round of the CAF U-17 African youth qualifiers. The Cubs have so far thumped one local side in some of their build-up matches. The U-17 lads beat Tranova Academy in their first build-up game by 5-1 at the Njeru technical centre late last week.
The boys, however, lost to FUFA super league side, Bul FC who beat them 1-0 in the second friendly game at the Njeru technical center.
Tito Okello scored the only goal that pronounced cubs as losers on the day in the second half of the game.
Head coach, Matia Lule however seemed to have been impressed by the team’s performance and attitude his charge exhibited throughout the match. “A loss to Bul which plays in the top league with that slim margin (1- 0) motivates our players to stay strong and focused. I am happy we put up a good game,” Lule said after the game.
Muhammed Shaban, the Cubs’ skipper missed the interesting game as he had just resumed training. The Cubs will have another friendly game on Sunday with the Jinja Ex players in Njeru at 4pm and training resumes tomorrow with two sessions in the morning at Njeru and in the evening at Kimaka Barracks
