It was a history writing evening for Vipers’ star and Under-23 National team captain, Farouk Miya as he scored the only goal of the game as Uganda shocked the Super Eagles of Nigeria at Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo state.
The Uganda Kobs youngster and Cranes’ promising talent Farouk Miya scored an 81st minute goal after receiving a well laid ball from Sporting Covilha‘s Kizito Luwaga to see off the three-time Africa Nations Cup champions on their own land.
It was a quite a blow for Nigeria’s first team goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who was marking his 100th cup for the Super Eagles.
On the Cranes’ side, new faces emerged on the pitch as Head coach Micho granted debuts to many at the national team. Among them were Bright Stars’ Joseph Nsubuga who featured on the right back, Shafik Bikiki of Express fc who made it into the center back and Kiira Young’s Tekkwo Derrick in the midfield.
