In preparation of the Comoros game, a balanced Uganda Cranes team had their last Regional tour game against a Buganda select team in Masaka at Masaka Recreational Ground in the Airtel Uganda “Mujje Tulumbe” campaign on Saturday.

The tours which began last year and have taken place across the country are part of efforts by Airtel Uganda, the official sponsor of Uganda to offer different regions in the country an opportunity to play against the national team. They have also served as training ground for the Uganda Cranes who are in a bid to qualify for the 2017 AFCON tournament.

The balanced Uganda Cranes team with a couple of experienced players and youth, edged the Buganda select team 3-0. During the first half, the Cranes showed class with the passing of the ball and had a lot of attempts on target but the Buganda Regional keeper could not allow a ball pass through his gloves. Half time ended in a goalless draw.

In the second half, the Uganda Cranes coach, repositioned his team for success yielding a smart win. The goals came from Shaban Mohammed in the 47th minute, a header from Musa Esenu in the 60th minute and the last goal of the game was scored by Viper’s Halid Lwaliwa in the 78th minute.

Speaking after the match, Airtel Uganda’s Brand Strategy Manager, Noella Byuma congratulated the Uganda Cranes upon their win and thanked the fans for showing the support towards Uganda Cranes. She also spoke about the Company’s efforts to rally Ugandans to support the National team when they face Comoros in September.

“We recently launched the “Mujje Tulumbe” campaign to mobilize all Ugandans to come nd show support for our national team. So far, we have given away one brand new Toyota premio to a lucky subscriber and still have 7 more to give. We have also rewarded several Airtel customers with cash people and over 800 people have won themselves tickets to go watch the Uganda Cranes vs. Comoros match live in Nambole stadium on the 3 rd September 2016.” she said.

“This 53-day campaign is ongoing and all Airtel subscribers are eligible to win, all one has to do is to top up their Airtime using Airtel Money, pay bills using mobile money use the e-voucher to load airtime and stand a chance to win,” she added

“As the official sponsor of Uganda cranes, Airtel Uganda is calling upon all Ugandans to support the team and as they endeavor to qualify for AFCON 2016,” Byuma concluded.
