Uganda Cranes will resume their campaign in the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on 15th November, 2014 though the 2015 AFCON venue is yet to be decided after Morocco, the expected host, developed second thoughts about hosting the event. This came after the outbreak of the lethal Ebola virus that has continued to pile tension on several nations across the globe following it’s rampant spread.
Uganda will be playing Ghana on match day five of the AFCON qualifiers at the back of losing two games in a row to the Sparrow Hawks of Togo who left them relegated to third place with 4points in Group E. Ghana stills leads the log with 8points while Togo are second with 6points and Guinea are bottom at 4points.
The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has been forced into quick preparations for the clash given it’s vitalness in boosting Uganda’s chances of qualification. FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo revealed that Uganda Cranes will play against Ethiopia and Sudan before battling it out with Ghana at the Mandela National stadium.
“The friendly games will help the team fine tune before the Ghana clash,” reads a statement on the federation’s website. It further revealed that the Ministry of Health will organize the Ethiopia clash as a way to raise awareness to the public about HIV/AIDS on the 9th November 2014.
