Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has today flagged off 26 lucky Ugandans to Brazil following the successful conclusion of its Sip Sip Samba promotion.
Launched in April 2014, the campaign that received a bevy of participation had originally intended to reward 40 Ugandans with the trip of a lifetime to Brazil.
However, a number of the winners of the trip could not make it because they did not have travel documents and failed to process them in time.
Speaking during the flag off of the Brazil bound winners at the South African Airways offices in Kampala, Robert Nsibirwa the Bell Brand Manager said that UBL was in the process of considering how to compensate those who were not able to join the rest in visiting Brazil.
“This being a once in a lifetime opportunity for our consumers, it is important that all the winners enjoy some benefit for their participation,” he explained.
The Sip Sip Samba campaign has so far provided the biggest travel offering by any company in Uganda’s recent past.
The winners who flew out today will be flying to Brazil aboard South African Airways, transiting through Johannesburg, South Africa, arriving in the Brazilian city of São Paolo Wednesday July 9, 2014. The city is Brazil’s largest in the southern hemisphere, the largest city of the Americas, and the world’s seventh largest city by population.
Nsibirwa added that while in Brazil, the winners will have the chance to experience firsthand the Samba culture that is synonymous with the South American nation. They will also experience the soft, sandy and expansive beaches lined with palm trees, lush greenery and flaming hibiscus as well as sample the various traditional foods in Brazil.
Brazil is the world’s sixth-largest economy with Rio de Janeiro named among the top 20 holiday destinations of 2013. It is by far the World’s cultural hub and is famed for its Carnivals where for one whole week, the streets are engrossed in larger- than- life floats, exhilarating music, and provocative people.
“With this gesture, we are saying ‘Thank you’ to our loyal consumers. This is just a pre-amble to the bigger things prepared for our consumers,” Nsibirwa said. He also noted that with the Sip Sip Samba promotion, Uganda Breweries had also taken the opportunity to reward some distributors and stockists because of their critical role in reaching the final consumer.
“Therefore, we want to thank everyone who took time off to participate in this campaign. This is just the beginning,” Nsibirwa said.
To participate in the promotion, all a consumer had to to do was buy a bottle of any of the four brands; Tusker Lager, Guinness, Tusker Malt and Bell Lager, check under the crown for a five-digit code then send an SMS with the code to 6050 for the chance to enter the weekly draws.
