Uganda and its neighbors – Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi – have declined in latest FIFA rankings released yesterday 6th August, 2015 in Zurich, Switzerland.
Uganda, who were ranked 73rd last month, have now fallen to 74th position while Tanzania dropped to 140th. Rwanda fell by 13 places to become 91st in the rankings.
Still within the CECAFA region, Kenya managed to keep its position (116th) while Ethiopia improved by two positions to become ranked 99th.
Uganda is 19th on the African continent while 2018 World Cup qualifier opponents Togo lag a spot behind and are ranked 80th worldwide.
Group D opponents in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers Burkina Faso, Botswana and Comoros are ranked 71st, 121st and 186th respectively.
Africa’s top five are; Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia and Senegal who rank 19th, 21st, 27th, 34th and 39th respectively in the world.
World’s top five; Argentina, Belgium, Germany, Colombia and Brazil.
