Uganda Breweries Limited has handed over cash prizes of up to UGX 7.5 Million to the winners of the media competition aimed at rewarding journalists with iconic memories or experiences of UBL or any of its brands.

The Best Video category was won by Wandera Were Erasmus who walked away with 2 million shillings. The best article and picture categories were won by Moses Serugo and Micheal Nsubuga respectively and each walked away with 1.5 million shillings. Rowland Nkahebwa had the most unique submission winning himself 1.5 million and Emmanuel Ssejjengo was the runner up taking home one million shillings.

The prizes were handed over to the journalists by David Onyango, the Uganda Breweries Head of Communications and sustainability.

Uganda Breweries Limited in January 2021 announced the media competition as part of the activities to commemorate their 75 years of existence. UBL will this year celebrate their anniversary under the theme “Brewed by Uganda”. The celebrations will lead up to the company’s 75th anniversary on July 27th 2021.

Speaking during the prizes handover ceremony, David Onyango thanked media for being instrumental on the success of this 75-year journey.

The UBL@75 competition was open to all members of the press from Television, Print, Radio and Online newswires.

To participate, journalists were required to tell a story of their most memorable experience of Uganda Breweries Limited or any of the UBL Brands or share iconic footage from past UBL events held in the 70s, 80s, 90s or early 2000s.
