The Uganda media fraternity today, Wednesday, woke up to the painful news of the death of national broadcaster, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) news anchor Susan Namasaba. The funeral service to pay tribute for the warm hearted girl is this evening at Watoto church central.
The morning show news anchor at UBC described as “the girl with a good heart and a beautiful smile” by NTV news anchor, Josephine Karungi, has left many in utter shock and disbelief.
At the time of her death, Susan who passed away in the wee hours of this morning was reported to be nursing a chronic injury sustained from a “boda boda” accident that occurred three years ago. The accident led to a fatal blood clot that has finally taken her away from the face of Uganda.
Prior to her death, there were preparations to have her flown out of the country for specialized treatment. The state broadcaster, UBC is yet to provide an official communication on the circumstances under which Namasaba passed away.
This has been a sad week for UBC team and staff after experiencing the death of Veteran Journalist and former Chief News Editor Uganda News Agency (Radio Uganda and Uganda Television) who worked under the office of the Prime minister, Mr Emmanuel Nkurunziza, who also passed away on September 8 at Kampala Hospital.
Susan will be remembered for the significant role she played in helping transform the former UTV into a modern Public broadcaster. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
