Kenya’s biggest reality television show, Tusker Project Fame is no more.
The talent search showcase will not be making it to our screens this year as has been the custom. Sponsors EABL are thought to have pulled the plug on the show.
Word on the street is that, East African Breweries Limited decided to focus on the just concluded new reality show, Tusker Twende Kazi. While no official reason has been given, the most probable cause for the pulling out would be that the budget set aside for that kind of sponsorship was spent on Twende Kazi. Furthermore, the nose diving ratings of the show that has for years given some of the best music talents across the region a platform to catapult themselves into stardom may have played a role in the beverage manufacturer choosing to try an alternative.
EABL is said to sink in about Ksh 700 million into one season of the show but regrettably, stardom always seems to elude the contestants who have won the competition. The show may however make a comeback in 2015 after a review.
