Tusker Project Fame Auditions Excite Arua Town

Arua, August, 2013 – Tusker Project Fame season 6 kicked off its auditions in Arua town on Saturday in a bid to discover the most talented individuals that will represent Uganda in the ultimate music talent show in East Africa come October.

Held at the Desert Breeze Hotel, the auditions were received with massive excitement by the people in the West Nile and the judges, renowned music producer Benon Mugumya, Arua One FM presenter Stella Atizuyo and Urban TV’s Bush Baby finally zeroed down to three contestants who will proceed to the Kampala auditions scheduled for 7th September, 2013 at the Sheraton Hotel.

The auditions that kicked off as early as 10:00am saw a big turn up from the music loving people of Arua and there was an outstanding display of talent as Adam Mandela, Winnie Akot and Mukuna Tchidere who gave superb performances made it to yet another round of the auditions.

“I am really excited for the opportunity that has been given to me by Tusker Lager and I promise to I will give it my best, “said Akot.

Tusker Project Fame 6 will continue its search for talent with auditions heading to the western town of Mbarara on 31st August, 2013 at the Agip Motel. Tusker Project Fame 6 returns to the screens in a new format that allows music groups comprising not more than 3 people to audition making the competition tougher.

“Tusker Project Fame has established itself as East Africa’s ultimate talent reality series. We are proud to be part of grooming Uganda’s musical talent and we are proud to be playing a key role in bringing the region of East Africa together, “said Harry Mwanje, Brand Manager Tusker Lager.

Auditions in all participating countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan continue with the remaining Uganda auditions slated for 31st August in Mbarara, and the final auditions on 7th September in Kampala.

The daily highlights of happenings in the Tusker Project Fame house will be broadcast on Monday to Friday at 9:30pm-10:00pm and the live eviction and nomination shows on Saturday and Sunday starting from 8:00pm and 7:30pm respectively on Urban TV.

Uganda has reaped big from Tusker Project Fame since it was launched in 2006. Key notable names include Jacob, Esther Nabaasa, Davis Ntaare and Naava Grey Asha who was recently signed by Sony Music Enter­tainment Africa further to her contract with Rockstar 4000 Music Entertain­ment.

Judiciary secretary Bigirimana Rubbishes Reports he’s been Denied Visa to the US

SECRETARY TO the Judiciary, Pius Bigirimana has described reports that he’s been denied a visa to The United States as ‘malice’ insisting was in New York just recently.

There was a published story that Bigirimana was denied entry to The States where he was invited to attend the inauguration of Prof Jim Gash as the president of Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. According prior News, Bigirimana was expected to travel alongside other judicial officials including Chief Justice Bart Katureebe.

Reacting to the story, Bigirimana describes the reports as malice and unfounded.“This is malice . I returned from New York recently. That’s rubbish,” he said. Indeed, Bigirimana was in the United States in May this year for the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to which he is the secretary. As part of its 100th anniversary, ILO painted a mural at the Uganda Embassy in New York in recognition of the efforts the government has put in place to solve youth unemployment.

The mural, part of the five painted around New York, specifically honours the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP) for its unique approach in promoting youth entrepreneurship while contributing to the reduction of youth unemployment.To date, the Programme which was initiated by Bigirimana following his posting to the Gender Ministry in June 2013, has funded 20,159 youth projects. Up to Shs9,232 billion has been revolved to finance another youth 1,090 projects.Bigirimana has been at the forefront for integrity and has been praised by President Yoweri Museveni for his role in fighting corruption in Uganda.He has also been praised for his hard work and patriotism.

Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) in conjunction with Emmanuel Ikubese Films and partners premiered their long-awaited pan African series “Kyaddala: It’s Real” in an exclusive black carpet event held at Kingdom Kampala on Friday evening.

The evening kicked off with a cocktail where revelers were serenaded by the soulful Kenneth Mugabi and Steve Keys, before later being ushered to the screening room to watch the first episode of the TV series.

The exclusive premiere attracted key players in the film industry from Uganda and beyond ranging from movie directors, producers, actors and actresses beyond the cast of Kyaddala.

Based on real life experiences, Kyaddala depicts young people’s sexual and reproductive health issues through a rich storyline with compelling themes like HIV and its impact on young people, Teenage pregnancy and the role of “gatekeepers/ stakeholders” in averting child marriages, Sexual and gender based violence among young people and how it affects their SRHR needs and Myths and misconceptions around young people’s SRHR and how to create an enabling and safe environment for young people to seek SRHR information and services.

“Kyaddala is a real conversation starter, tackling topics that people are afraid to have. This show will provoke important conversations on young people’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Challenges,” noted Humphrey Nabimanya, the Founder and Team Leader, Reach A Hand Uganda.

Featuring stars like Martha Kay, Salvado Idringi, Mathew Nabwiso, Anita Fabiola, Emmanuel Ikubese and Olumide Oworu (from Nigeria), the 8-part series will officially start airing on October 5th on NBS Television and on the official Kyaddala YouTube page and Sauti Plus TV.
