Copy and paste is not a new thing to the Ugandan music industry. Most of our artistes are known to be uncreative singers who will steal any song and make it their own. From Nigerian music, Jamaican to Ugandan, they will copy and paste it. Presenting the top artistes known for stealing music.
1.Ray Signature.
You may know him for his hit song ‘Kasenyanku’, but have you ever tried to listen to it in comparison to Nigerian singer Bracket’s ‘Me and U’? Well, give it a try and listen to both songs and you will agree that he is the king of Copy and Paste in Uganda. He stole everything about the song starting with the beat, flow to the lyrics.
2.Radio and Weasel.
They may have won an honesty Oscar award for their creative song, Corruption, but singing duo Radio and Weasel are no strangers to copy and paste syndrome. From being accused of using P-Square’s No one Like you song to come up with their hit song ‘Zuena’ to allegedly stealing No body from Leone Island turning into Bread and Butter which was a mega hit in 2009, to stealing T-Pain and Main’s song ‘All the above’ and turning it into ‘Ability’, the Good lyfe boys are known song thieves.
3.Comedian Amooti
His ‘Owolubinna’ song surely gave him all the hype he needed. But have you every stopped for a minute to think about where he got his creative song? Well, we have it on good authority that he copied it from Popcaans Dem Nah Worry me.
4.Sizzaman.
He recently returned to ex-girlfriend Straka Mwezi, with whom he has a child, in a bid to revive his music industry using her TV show on WBS. His name is Sizzaman and he is known for copying songs too.
Others include Rabadaba, Ragga Dee, Juliana and Bebe.
