Ugandan celebrities have tried everything within their power to stay at the top of the entertainment industry. From pulling funny stunts, producing kinky videos, using juju, nude pictures to using booze and drugs, they have done it all.
Drugs have allegedly become the biggest propeller to stardom in Uganda today. Very many Ugandan singers have made it to the top and attained success thanks to using drugs. Our sources reveal that some musicians spend more time smoking ganja than they spend in studio and yet become very successful at the end of the day.
“You see, I have worked closely with many celebrities in Uganda and drugs are their number one drive to fame,” reveals a source from Kamwokya.
“They get all the poise and charm that you see on stage and the very sweet sounding voices that you hear on radio from puffing all sorts of plants that they can find,” the source who preferred anonymity added.
Some upcoming singers have been lured into taking weed by their superiors. “I was once told that the ganja will help open up my voice so that I can sound so good and everyone will be fighting for me when I release a song,” said an upcoming artiste who is now attached to Watoto church. “Of course I rejected the offer and stopped hanging with them, although shutting them out cost me going to the top, I now have the lord and I will rise slowly but steadily.”
Musicians have in the recent past done several uncouth things while performing on stage before their fans. Most have regarded them simply disrespectful but a section of the public believes that it is the power of using drugs that makes them do these things. “I recently saw Coco Finger undressing on stage and remaining in his boxers. Tell me, even if you are sick in the mind, what kind of person removes his clothes before hundreds of people just like that. He must have been influenced by something,” said a Coco Finger fan.
Radio and Weasel, Ziza Bafana, Bobi Wine Iryn Namubiru are among some of the musicians who have been earmarked as those who are allegedly addicted to the green plant. Radio and Weasel shocked the world when recently police discovered a garden of weed at their mansion as they were apprehending the duo following the fracas that they had caused at Cassablanca bar.
Iryn Namubiru was also arrested for illegal possession of weed in Japan in May 2013. Although she claims that she was duped into carrying the weed, sources reveal that she could be one of the celebs that have risen to the top using the power of the green plant.
