Some Ugandan musicians have taken charge of 2014 and showcased their different talents at every available opportunity. These musicians have moved Uganda with their music and rocked countdowns left, right and centre. We congratulate the following celebs for making it. Here is a list of the top ten Ugandan musicians of 2014 in no particular order.
Bebe Cool.
With his hit song Love You Every day making rounds across Africa, Bebe Cool has certainly had a very good year. His song topped charts in South Africa and Nigeria among other African countries. He also staged a mega show at the Kampala Serena Hotel that saw city tycoons storming the venue and pledging large sums of money. Among these was Sudhir and Kirumira who attended the sold out show.
Rema Namakula
Apart from her issues with different city men who were claiming her baby, Rema managed to shine like the star that she is through 2014. With her hit Mchuzi, she managed to keep fans loyal to her. The singer who has been nominated in the HMA awards, kept rocking the stage even with her baby bump making her even the more loved. Congrats Rema.
Eddy Kenzo.
Kenzo was truly blessed this year. Very blessed if you ask me. He started as a very simple man to the extent of getting street kids to dance in his videos like Sitya loss. He ended up becoming an international hot cake. African big names in the music industry started scrambling to work with him as he rocked stages across the world. He teamed up with Ivory Coast singer Serge and did a song with him. He shot the ‘Be Happy’ in Europe featuring Teddy A. Well done Kenzo.
Irene Ntale
After releasing her hit song, Gyobera, Irene Ntale has been on everyone’s lips in 2014. Apart from many guys having a crush on her for her sexy looks and voice, Irene has continued to rock the entertainment world with songs like Easy with Chameleone and Ono Omwana. Irene even got an interview with UK based BBC TV where she talked about her love life and music. Irene has been one of the most talked about celebs of 2014. Congratulations Irene.
Radio and Weasel
Tune in to any Radio station and you will listen to their Neera song at least every hour. In 2014, their songs Amaaso and Ntunga kept fans loyal to them and saw them at the very top of the industry. The duo even managed to get an adverting deal with an online buying and selling company. Apart from the fights that they were involved in this year, the two remain at the top of the industry. Well done Radio and Weasel.
Pallaso and Sheebah.
This Team No Sleep duo is one you couldn’t avoid in 2014. They were literally in charge of the entertainment industry. This song Go down low sold them the most this year. Sheebah and Pallaso also rocked different stages across the country together this year. The two artistes hold so much power together that should they decide to work on a project together at any one point, they will have Uganda at their knees begging for more.
Dr. Jose Chameleone.
Leone Island boss is one of the stars who will not be leaving the music industry any time soon. Every single year, he has hits that keep fans glued and loving him even more. In 2014, Tubonge concert was one of the most attended even after it rained cats and dogs on the day of the concert. He released another song Wale Wale which is now making rounds across East Africa and featuring on Trace TV among other big networks. The singer rocked 2014.
Desire Luzinda.
Thanks to her nude pics which were a blessing in disguise, her Ekitone song has made rounds across Uganda. The singer is now more popular than most. Her Facebook page was verified letting her join the likes of Maurice Kirya and Juliana Kanyomozi. She has been accorded body guards and is now selling like a hot cake with revelers demanding for a performance from her at every city party. Following her BBC interview, the singer managed to get international recognition. Her 2014 might have been challenging, but she surely rocked it.
King Saha
We all admit to have danced to his Mulirwana song. Saha took charge of his celeb status in 2014 with his song hitting on all stations, clubs and at every party. Pastors reached an extent of referring to the song when preaching in church about the neighbor concept since the song is about neighbours. Saha followed the song with another one called Gundeze which has started picking up. His second annual concert held at Theatre La Bonita was well attended all testament to the fact that 2014 was his year.
Gravity Omutujju and Maro.
Gravity rocked fans at the Club Mega fest event that featured both local and international acts. His performances was one of the most talked about. Like his name he continued to ‘kill’ Ugandans with his music through 2014. His hilarious lyrics saw a multitude of people turning up for his Teri Dogo concert at Freedom City. He sure had a blast in 2014.
Same goes for Maro who had a good year with his Mubi Bubi song. The song culminated into a concert that took place at Mackinon suites. The concert attracted a big crowd. Well done Maro.
