Ugandan female celebs have done all kinds of things to sink deep and stay in the hearts and minds of fans. Some have gone as far as stripping and having their photos posted online for them to become famous, while others gracefully rise to the top and make it into fans’ hearts with little hustle. Whatever these top 10 did or didn’t do, they are the most loved female celebs in Uganda.
Juliana Kanyomozi: The name Juliana Kanyomozi is loved by many Ugandans. The former I-Jay singer who rose to stardom to become one of the biggest Ugandan artistes to reckon with is loved by fans to death. Although most of her fans recently disagreed with her and openly attacked her on Facebook for the first time, because of differing political views, they still forgave her and came back to her side. Fans have overtime showed their love for Juliana by supporting her career, buying her music, attending her concerts, being there for her when she lost her child and organizing a party to celebrate her. Surely, Juliana is one of the most loved Ugandan female celebrities.
Rema Namakula: Eddy Kenzo’s baby mama is loved by many. Not because of her dimples of sweet voice and looks, but because of the way she handles people and situations. Rema is one of the most humble celebrities that Uganda has. She has managed to keep fans by her side by always respecting their views, handling situations maturely and being true to herself.
Sheebah Karungi: A musician who rose from a mere karaoke dancer to the Hipipo artiste of the year 2015, Sheebah Karungi is surely loved by many. Queen Sheebah has managed to woe her fans with great music. She releases hit after hit keeping fans glued. Her songs, Ice cream, Automatic with Sizzaman and most recently, Wadawa, Kisasikimu among others have keep fans hooked. To spice up things for her fans, Sheebah has gone as far as showing off some skin for fans when she posted semi-nude photos of herself on instagram recently.
Barbie Kyagulanyi: She is not a musician, not an entertainer but she is very loved by Firebase fans as well as other people. The wife to Ghetto Gladiator Bobi Wine has further cemented her relationship with fans by getting involved in community activities that improve the livelihood of others. If she is not working with mothers who have no antenatal care, she is busy helping children or even doing other charity activities. Such has left fans no other choice but to fall in love with the beauty from Western Uganda.
Jennifer Musisi: She is the iron lady of Kampala at the helm of Kampala Capital City Authority, but she is admired by many of her fans especially because of the way she handles pressure, stands by her word and loves to have fun. Musisi has done many things that have attracted youths to her. If she is not working on a project with Bobi Wine, she is busy dancing at a party with Juliana Kanyomozi. On a more serious note, she has been praised for working so hard to make sure Kampala is clean, youths have jobs among others. Who would hate such a celebrity?
Queen Sylvia of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda is the current Nnabagereka or Queen of Buganda. Her gracefulness, wisdom and humility despite being a royal has attracted masses to herside. Along the love comes a lot of respect because one wrong move and she will have you locked away forever. The Nnaabagereka supports the Kabaka’s Education Fund in assisting to make education available to the least advantaged children through a scholarship scheme. She stresses the need for high quality education accessible to all children and relevant to the needs of society. This makes her stand out and has earned her a lot of love and praise.
Judith Babibye: The Buikwe Woman MP that was recently sent to Parliament by her people with over 80,000 votes is one of the most loved and admired women in Uganda. Judith who is a gospel artiste cum politician has fans in the new and old generation. Her gospel hits get mothers singing all the day as they do their chores while young girls aspire to be like her. She sure is a true reflection of the African woman and she is loved for that.
Desire Luzinda: Desire had always been just like any other musician until she suffered as a revenge porn victim when her former lover, a Nigerian, posted her photos and private sexlife on the internet. This shade the light on the mother of one who was even interviewed by international news channels. The way she handled the situation earned her a lot of respect. Some believed that she would never rise again but she managed to even get more gigs, works harder and release better music among other things. Aside from that Desire Luzinda is a true definition of humility a thing fans love to see in celebrities who are believed to have everything they need in life.
Halima Namakula: ‘Mother’ to Rema Namakula, Halima Namakula made her mark on the Ugandan society through music way back when she used to sing. Namakula who has managed to rise Rema as her own daughter is praised for her love for charity, peace and oneness. Her daughter Rachale K has managed to emulate her mother and turned out to be a musician one of the few Rockstars in Uganda. Halima has over four albums namely 1999 Ekimbeewo, 2000 Tonkutula, 2001 Kyama Kyange, 2004 Cheza aka Sambagala and 2008 Ntuse Jendaga.
Bad Black – Shanita Namuyimba Former jail bird cum singer, Shanita Namuyimba aka Bad Black who was involved in a fraud case that saw her get four years in jail is one of the most talked about and loved women in Uganda. Bad Black who is now into music has made her mark on the lives of many Ugandans especially because of the way she handles situations, believes in herself and never gives up. Although she recently bleached and changed her entire appearance, Black still holds a place in many people’s hearts.
