Last year brought us amazing talent in the names of Pallaso, King Saha, A Pass, Spice Diana and Abba Marcus. 2015 has been no different with a whole lot of artistes that have sprung to glory thanks to their talent and dedication. As we would prefer to put it, these artistes came, saw, and conquered.
Today we bring you Ugandan music stars who have worked their a** off to make it to the top and somehow, 2015 gave them the platform they had always been waiting for. Like the champions that they are, they took every opportunity available to shine bright like diamonds. Presenting the list of the top five break through Ugandan artistes whose music kept people on the dance floor in 2015.
Winnie Nwagi
Straight from Coca-Cola Rated Next talent show, Winnie Nwagi has worked her way to the top in 2015. After signing to Swangz Avenue, Winnie has blown up within a year, releasing songs like Katono-katono, Embeera, Kyowulira, Gwenonya.
Her Breakthrough song Embeera was written by Zulanda, a producer at Swangz. She describes it as one about giving affection to a loved one. It is the kind of song that shows how people should treat those they love when in a relationship.
The 26-year-old has managed to get some endorsements this year like the Ambition mission deal, she has performed for mega crowds including the recent Ekiggunda Kyo Mwaka and many other shows. 2015 has been her platform to work her way up and she did pretty well.
Victor Kamenyo
Victor is a fast rising Luga-flow rapper who has had a great year. This year, one of his major achievements was when he held his maiden concert dubbed “Silina Malala” that took place on Independence Day, 9th October 2015 at Muganzirwaza mall, Katwe. At the show, his ability on stage and popularity among fans was put to the test which he excelled at. His beef with Gravity Omutujju this year has helped him get known in new territories beyond his own. He was at one time the talk of Social Media when he opened up a war with Gravity Omuttuju over launch dates. Despite the fact that he is pursuing a law degree, he managed to make great music for his fans including; Olukiko, Malala, Sijja, Olugambo and Claire. Surely the sky is the limit for Victor now that he has a grip on the industry.
This year, Fefe Bussi, Ceaserous and Ekky have also made their mark.
We will keep you posted.
