They came, they saw, they conquered. Today we bring you Ugandan music stars who have worked their **ses off to make it to the top and somehow, 2014 gave them the platform they had always been waiting for. Like the champions that they are, they took every opportunity available to shine bright like diamonds. Presenting the list of the top five break through Ugandan artistes whose music kept people on the dance floor in 2014.
Pallaso Mayanja.
Chameleone’s brother, Pius Mayanja, also known by his stage name Pallaso had a good 2014 musically. Much as his mage was tainted with many bad fights, the singer who returned to Uganda from the USA mid 2014 has broken through. Pallaso’s success is attributed to Radio and Weasel with whom he did a song called Amaaso, Sheebah Karungi with whom he has done several songs including Mundongo and Go down low. Well done Pallaso. Listen to his song, Twatoba with Davido here.
King Saha.
Mulirwana is a song that the young and the old will sing to any day anywhere. The song done by King Saha in 2014 saw him stage one of the best concerts of 2014 at Theatre La Bonita where a huge crowd turned up to show some love. The Leone Island break away artiste also managed to stage a show in the UK thanks to his hit song. Saha now has a new song out called Gundeeze. He has had a blast in 2014.
APass.
Need we write anything about Alexander Bagonza a.k.a A Pass? The singer has cut out a piece of the sweet Ugandan music cake and kept it safe for his fans… giving them a small but sweet piece each and every time. A Pass who was inspired by the songs he used to listen to in the car as his father took him to school, recorded his first song in 2007 and seven years down the road, he broke through the industry. The singer who records almost a song everyday was praised by fans for his Tetubatya, Kampala and Tuli Kubigere hits among others. We are also told that Jamaicans enjoy his music. Well done APass, 2015 is your year.
Spice Diana
Diana Namukwaya also known as Spice Diana is a lady that has made her mark on 2014. The Industrial Art student from Makerere University Kampala is managed by Emma Mulondo the same man who has made things happen for singer Khalifah Aganaga. She has rocked the year with her Onsanula hit song which is on everyone’s lips. In the new arrangement AgaNaga shall take and enjoy artistic and creative credit while Twinkle Star shall take and enjoy managerial, promotional and publicity credit. Twinkle Star shall also exclusively represent and book Kalifah and Spice either together or independently. Spice Diana is surely a promising female Diva out of Uganda, East Africa. 2015 should watch out for her.
Abba Marcus
Chameleone’s singing son Abba Marcus Mayanja aka Abba Mayanja, is a talented little man. From winning sports accolades day in day out, to releasing a great hit, to being nominated in the biggest music awards in the land, he sure is one of the best break through artistes of 2014. The 11 year old who released a song called Game Over this year has been gracing several concerts and kids parties. With the help of his father, he is becoming a force that future Ugandan stars will have to reckon with. We are told that he is in studio recording another song. Well done Abba.
