This list of the top 10 richest African football players includes the retired ones such as Nwankwo Kanu, Jay Jay Okocha. Samuel Eto’o who was recently appointed as the player manager at the Turkish club Antalyaspor may end his carrier there. Sulley Muntari and Micheal Essien are the only Ghanaians professional football players included on the list.

BBC African footballer of the year 2015, Ivorian and Manchester city player,Yaya Toure has secured himself in the second position, the newly named coach of the Turkish professional football club, Antalyaspor, Samuel Eto’o takes up the first position with $202 million.

Mikel Obi is reportedly among the current best paid African football player earning about £75,000 per week at Chelsea FC and now his networth is $50 million listed in the 8th position.

3. Didier Drogba ( Montreal ) – $155 million

4. Jay-Jay Okocha ( Retired ) – $150 million

5. Nwankwo Kanu ( Retired ) – $100 million

6. Michaël Essien ( Panathinaïkos ) – $70 million

7. Emmanuel Adebayor ( Libre ) – $57 million

8. Obi Mikel ( Chelsea ) – $50 million

9. Kolo Touré ( Liverpool ) – $43 million
