Tiwa Savage signs with Universal Music Group

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, today announced an exclusive global recording agreement with acclaimed Nigerian singer songwriter Tiwa Savage, one of Africa’s biggest stars and an artist whose success spans music, fashion, film and television. Under the agreement, her future music will be released internationally through UMG’s operations in more than 60 countries worldwide. Projects will be executively produced by Efe Ogbeni of Regime Music Societe and Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna.

Tiwa Savage said, “My biggest goal is to make Africa proud. I’m so excited for this moment and I’m thankful to Sir Lucian Grainge and my new UMG family for their belief in my dreams. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my career and I’m more ready than I have ever been.”

The acclaimed singer-songwriter was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and later received a scholarship to study Professional Music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts before embarking on a career that has seen her achieve creative success across a multitude of mediums.

2018 was her most successful year to date, which saw the singer-songwriter, philanthropist, entrepreneur and fashion icon crowned Best African Act by the MTV European Music Awards, making history as the first female to win the accolade. In the same year, she also became the first African female to sell out London’s IndigO2. In December, Tiwa was handpicked by Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin to perform alongside Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and Jay Z live at the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg to a 70,000 strong audience and millions across the globe in celebration of the centenary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. An accomplished live musician, she has performed around the world, including a notable performance at Jay Z’s Made In America festival in Philadelphia in 2017.

Tiwa was named one of the world’s Top 100 Inspirational Women in Fashion by Vogue US then later featured in British Vogue’s December 2018 issue as one of 10 women that are changing the face of music globally. She has released a string of singles including ‘Mr Lova Lova’ ft Duncan Mighty, ‘Diet’ and ‘Tiwa’s Vibe’ all of which hit the No. 1 spot across charts within Africa, securing her position as one of Afrobeats leading artists. A resilient force within Africa’s ever-growing entertainment industry, she has also managed to carve a career as a reputable songwriter, conquering the charts in Africa whilst balancing her roles as an entrepreneur, mentor and mother.

Throughout her career, Savage has been active in her philanthropic endeavours, supporting various youth engagement organisations and breast cancer screening projects across Nigeria and further afield. Through her work with MTV’s Shuga, Savage is also keen to share further knowledge of HIV/ AIDS prevention and awareness within the continent. One of Africa’s most followed women on social media, Savage was the first African female to represent Pepsi as an ambassador and represents leading global brands including Nike, MegaGrowth Hair, MTN and Star Beer.

Throughout summer 2019, Tiwa will play a string of international festivals including the UK’s Wireless Festival, Afropunk in Paris and Oh My! Festival in Amsterdam.

Jose Chameleone cleans up Twitter, follows only two Ugandan artistes, your guess is as good as ours.

After being unfollowed by the President or rather his administrator, Jose Chameleone has not taken Twitter lightly. The singer has done some cleaning up and has been left with only 108 accounts to follow and only two of those are Ugandan artistes.

It is not rocket science that Chameleone only decides to follow his two brothers Pallaso and Radio&Weasel, had it been any others maybe we would be wondering the criteria he used.

Chameleone is one of the most followed Ugandan artistes on Twitter and not following you may not go so well with you as an artiste.

Judiciary secretary Bigirimana Rubbishes Reports he’s been Denied Visa to the US

SECRETARY TO the Judiciary, Pius Bigirimana has described reports that he’s been denied a visa to The United States as ‘malice’ insisting was in New York just recently.

There was a published story that Bigirimana was denied entry to The States where he was invited to attend the inauguration of Prof Jim Gash as the president of Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. According prior News, Bigirimana was expected to travel alongside other judicial officials including Chief Justice Bart Katureebe.

Reacting to the story, Bigirimana describes the reports as malice and unfounded.“This is malice . I returned from New York recently. That’s rubbish,” he said. Indeed, Bigirimana was in the United States in May this year for the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to which he is the secretary. As part of its 100th anniversary, ILO painted a mural at the Uganda Embassy in New York in recognition of the efforts the government has put in place to solve youth unemployment.

The mural, part of the five painted around New York, specifically honours the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP) for its unique approach in promoting youth entrepreneurship while contributing to the reduction of youth unemployment.To date, the Programme which was initiated by Bigirimana following his posting to the Gender Ministry in June 2013, has funded 20,159 youth projects. Up to Shs9,232 billion has been revolved to finance another youth 1,090 projects.Bigirimana has been at the forefront for integrity and has been praised by President Yoweri Museveni for his role in fighting corruption in Uganda.He has also been praised for his hard work and patriotism.

Talent Africa group under it’s events and promotion wing will come active and handy in the ASFA 2019. We were keen on the partnership and quizzed Talent Africa boss Ali Alibhai on why he chose to partner with Abryanz this year.“We are a 360 entertainment company and have over years mastered the art of events marketing and this is another event we look forward to evelevating further. Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards have a very good reputation and we are sure our contribution will be felt” he said.

Talent Africa Group has in the past yet somilarly big events like Nyege Nyege and hosted many foreign artistes and have at all instances sold out. With such momentum we can be sure ASFA 2019 will be another event to look upto, probably the best ever edition so far.
