5 Things Not to Do When He is in a Bad Mood

coupleMarriage is the game of patience. But it is not as difficult as it is perceived to be, especially when there is an understanding and when you know what ticks your partner. The commonest complaint that most wives have is that their husbands come home from work in a bad mood and it ruins the whole evening. This triggers tiffs and quarrels that, if happen repeatedly, can disturb a happy marriage. To save you from this, we tell you about 5 things that you can definitely avoid doing, if you do not want your husband’s bad mood to go from bad to worse.

Stop nudging

If you can clearly see that he is in a bad mood (whatever the reason may be), do not keep asking about it again and again. Anger generally flares up when one faces questions like, “Are you okay?”, “Are you angry with me?”, “What is wrong with you?”, etc. Talking about his bad mood over and over again can make things worse. In case he really feels like talking, he would do that himself. Just give him some time to calm down.

Stop being too comforting

There is a difference between understanding his problem and trying to be too comforting. When he talks to you about his bad mood, he needs someone to hear him out and not oblige him with comfort and solutions. Stop suggesting how he can make things right. It is best to just be on his side and let him do the speaking.

Do not start with your bad day stories

Bringing up bad situations that you might have faced throughout the day, when he comes home tired is the worst thing a wife can do. This will only leave him more frustrated and irritated.

Stop lecturing

The last thing you can do is loose your temper in this situation. You must realise that lecturing him with ideals and principles, or trying to show him what is right or wrong is not going to work out when he is upset. Stay away from lectures and ensure that your tone is not at all commanding. Once he calms down, you can gently explain to him what you felt.

Do not suggest sex

Your husband is already in a bad mood and you do not really know what might tick him off. There are a lot of women who make the mistake of suggesting sex in such situations. But this can actually backfire! He might feel that you are being insensitive to his feelings and emotions.
