Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) head Coach Abdallah Mubiru has acclaimed the character exhibited by his squad in Tuesday’s away win against Police fc in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).
The defending champions edged the Cops 1-0 in a closely competitive encounter at Kavumba Recreational Stadium in Wakiso. Police fell to an own goal by Sadat Kyambadde who deflected Joseph Ochaya’s shot to net the only goal that handed victory to the Yellow boys.
“The boys showed great character. I must admit we didn’t apply ourselves well today (Tuesday) but the boys never gave up which caught my eye,” Mubiru told the club’s official website.
“At times you need luck. There are games we’ve dominated but lost points but today was our turn to win minus playing well perhaps. Credit to the boys whose never gave say die attitude got us the goal. In circumstances like that, some tend to settle for a point but they kept going,” he added.
The lucky win up lifted KCCA to second spot with 47 points from 23 games where they sit with two points behind table leaders Vipers and just a point above SC Villa who are now in third place. SC Villa and Vipers have however played a game less than KCCA.
