There was more beyond low turn up at Beenie Man show

Ever since Friday after the show that featured Beenie Man, Jamaican legendary artiste, there has been talk about how the show flopped and how Oxlade and Focalistic didn’t perform.

All Majority took home was the fact that the show didn’t have the numbers as compared to previous shows, Oxlade, a trending Nigerian artiste landing in the country and failing to show up on stage, the same case with South Africa’s Focalistic.

Well, at the show, there was more than the negativity as many good things were also seen at the venue and are worth talking about and giving Top Boy Entertainment credit were due. Below are some of these highlights.

Beenie Man’s performance

Jamaican star Beenie Man last performed in Uganda in 2009 at a show organized at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds. 13 years later, the star was announced to perform at the Big Show that happened at Cricket Oval in Lugogo.

Beenie Man’s stage performance didn’t leave many in one place as Toyota, President Museveni’s young brother left his VVIP sit to go close to the stage to sing along to the Jamaican’s songs. Dancehall singer Vampino was in the audience and this time round, he didn’t come to perform but to dance the night away as he was seen enjoying every bit of King of the dancehall’s performance. Apart from these two, other lovers of dancehall music also enjoyed his performance as he did songs like King of the dancehall, Who Am I, Girls Dem Sugar, Dude, Street Life and Gimme Gimme among others songs.

Fenon Events

Another aspect that contributes to a good show is stage, lighting and sound. At the Beenie Man show, many people kept saying the stage design and set up was nice with the beautiful lighting and when it came to sound, it was so clear. All this wouldn’t be achieved without the effort of Fenon Events. The events company was in charge of the event production and well, know one talked bad about them since they have over the years mastered the art of event production.

The screens at the event clearly showed what was happening on stage for those who were very far behind and couldn’t see what was happening on the stage.

The security

Top Boy Entertainment hired professional and good security team that worked with Uganda Police and UPDF. There were no cases of theft as everyone was safe from danger in and outside the venue. While accessing the venue, the security team made sure they double checked to admit only those with genuine tickets and full accreditation like media people and service providers.

Inside the venue, only those with VIP and other all access wristbands were allowed inside designated areas. For backstage, security allowed on artistes, organisers and few media people.
