The Saints FC continue their fight to stay in the top flight today afternoon as they seek their third second round victory against Jinja based side Sadolin Paints at Namboole Stadium in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).
Saints FC have already registered two consecutive victories in two games played under the charges of Moses Basena who also doubles as the Uganda Cranes assistant coach. Basena was sacked by URA FC before the end of the first round but the league debutants sought his services after the departure of George Best Nsimbe who quit to join the league defending champions Vipers SC.
The Saints beat Alex Isabirye’s Bul FC by 3-1 on match day sixteen before thumping Charles Ayeko’s Soana FC by 4-0 in their last league fixture. The two victories elevated the league debutants from being second bottom to 13th place with 16 points from 17 games and 7 points behind 12th placed Sadolin.
Meanwhile, the Painters have had a tough start into the second round of the league. First was a 2-1 home loss to Soana on the opening day of the second round, then 4-0 and 2-0 loses to Express and Vipers respectively before sharing spoils with army side Simba Sports Club in a goalless draw last week on Friday.
Mbowa will miss for the Saints after being sidelined with malaria while Yasin Mugume and Hassan Musana will bring their national team experience after that trip to Arua with the Cranes.
