After 95 minutes of full play, there was only one man left standing in the Namboole derby as league debutants, The Saints FC thrashed SC Victoria University 4-1 in a relegation battle on Tuesday evening.
On-loan stars from KCCA FC made it to the score sheet with Isaac Serunkuma bagging a brace and Owen Kasule one. The other goal was scored by former SC Villa captain Isaac Kirabira as the Moses Basena-coached side brightened their chances of staying in the top flight.
The massive victory left The Saints in 13th place with 23 points from 22 games, two and one game less played compared to a 14th and 15th placed Simba SC and Victoria University respectively.
Elsewhere, goals from Feni Ali and Kigongo Ronald in the first and second half respectively were enough for Uganda Revenue Authority FC as they beat Jinja based side JMC Hippos.
The game was played at the Mehta stadium in Lugazi as Kefa Kisala’s side collected maximum points to keep their title hopes alive.URA are now third on the log with 39 points from 24 games while JMC are fourth with 37 points from 25 games.
At Luzira grounds, prisons and bottom side Maroons FC shocked Police FC with a 1-0 defeat to move to 16 points after 24 games even when their position didn’t change.
At Kavumba Recreational grounds in Wakiso, home side Soana FC held Express FC to a one-all draw.
