Movit has today rewarded winners in the second edition of the Movit Kampala Talent Excellence Initiative. They received their cash prizes at an event held at the Movit Headquarters in Zana – Bunamwaya.
Handing over the cash prizes, Emmy Musasirane, Director Operations and Administration, Movit Products Limited, advised the emerging talents to be very creative and innovative if they are to go far in their chosen career path.
He also remarked that Movit will continue to support such initiatives that empower the community, hinting that they will expand the scope of the talent search to cover the whole of Uganda in the forthcoming editions.
The Movit Kampala Talent Excellence Initiative is aimed at supporting local talent by giving them a platform to showcase their potential and be exposed to the world. Auditions were conducted in the five divisions of Kampala where 25 contestants were selected and then housed at Front Page Hotel Zana for eight days while undergoing training in both their talent and business skills.
After a series of eliminations, nine contestants remained and tussled it out for the grand prize at the Movit Stage during the KCCA Carnival before a panel of judges and the public. The overall winner was chosen on how they scored in the public vote and overall presentation at the carnival.
Betty Nakyewa who emerged overall winner among the 25 contestants expressed excitement as she received the grand prize of Ugx 3 Million. She lauded Movit and partners for the initiative and further noted that this would help launch her music career.
Murungi Jeremiah, who was the 1st runner up, received Ugx 2 Million while Acheng Zamzam, the second runner up, received Ugx 1 Million.
