Today, Tuesday February 1, 2022, marks exactly 4years since Ugandan male vocalist, Moses Ssekibogo a.k.a Mowzey Radio of the famous GoodLyfe Magic music label died.
The Late Radio breathed his last at Case Clinic Kampala where he had been admitted for days.
Prior to his admission at Case Clinic, Radio was first hospitalized at Nsambya hospital on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 after a bar brawl at De Bar – Entebbe that left him with serious injuries on the head.
As a norm for most fallen celebrities around the world, the multi-hitmaker has since been greatly celebrated, with a spearhead coming from fellow Ugandan musicians.
For the 2022 edition, a two-days special event has gone down at his mother’s home in Kagga-Nakawuka, Wakiso district collectively organized by musicians, media and his family members.
“Celebration Time Legooo To Kagga Tomorrow & Celebrate the life of a legend. Abig Thank you to all the Artists, Media & The Fans etc For paying tribute to our very own King RADIO. Let’s Do one more for tomorrow at Nakawuka KAGGA my second home,” a statement on Radio & Weasel social media reads.
Mowzey Radio’s eulogizing event kicked off on Monday, January 31, 2022 featuring performances from top artists such as; Pallaso, Karole Kasita, Lydia Jazmine, among others.
A candlelight moment came-in as it ushered the people at the event into the fateful day when the vocalist breathed his last.
More fabled artists have been aligned for to perform at the event on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 which will include his singing partner, Weasel Manizo whos will be accompanied by his brothers; Jose Chameleone and Pallaso.
Being a special talent as recognized by majority, posts and messages, from around the world have flooded on social media celebrating his life.
His music and new tribute songs are also dominant in the media, internet, streets and homes.
Who was Mowzey Radio?
Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo (January 25, 1985– February 1, 2018), also known as Mowzey Radio, was a Ugandan musician. He was one of the main performers of the Ugandan music group Goodlyfe Crew together with Jose Chameleone’s brother Weasel Manizo (real name Douglas Sseguya).
Born and raised in Jinja District of Busoga Sub region, Moses Radio attended Kibuye Primary school in Makindye and later, Holy Cross Lake View Jinja for his O’level and later Kiira College Butiki for A’level before joining Makerere University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Sociology in 2005.
Radio released his first solo song, “Tujja Kuba Wamu” in 2004 while at Makerere University where he completed a degree in psychology, before joining the Leone Island Music Empire in 2005.
He started as a backup singer along with Weasel behind Jose Chameleone.
He had first success in the year 2005 after he had released a reggae love song called “Jennifer”, the official stage video for that song was filmed by Ugandan music promoter DJ Erycom.
Radio and Weasel had many hits, including: “Ability”, “Akapapula”, “Bread and Butter”, “Hellenah” ft David Lutalo, “Juice Juicy”, “Lwaki Onnumya”, “Magnetic”, “Mr DJ”, “Mukama Talya Mandazi”, “Ngenda Maaso”, “Nyambula”, “Nyumbani”, “Obudde”, “Potential”, “Sitaani”, “Zuena”, and “(Tukikole) Neera”, which played incessantly on most radio and TV stations in Africa in 2014.
