In a celebration marked by pomp and glamour, renowned Ugandan scholar Henry Ssuubi Kiyimba has successfully graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Makerere University.
Without delay on the momentous graduation day of Friday, Ssuubi took to his social media platforms to express his gratitude for achieving this significant milestone. “With great pleasure, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and deep appreciation to everyone who contributed to reaching this very significant milestone. Special thanks to Joadah Consult for their generous sponsorship and Dr. Joel J. A’ita for the invaluable mentorship,” wrote Henry Ssuubi on X.
Ssuubi generously shared captivating moments of the graduation dances and celebrations, showcasing camaraderie with his former classmates from the Mechanical Engineering class.
Adding to the joyous occasion, last month, Ssuubi received a tailored suit for the graduation ceremony from the renowned fashionista Oscar Kampala.
Notably, Henry Ssuubi garnered public attention in 2019 when he arrived at the university carrying a metallic suitcase, a move that triggered mockery and verbal bullying from netizens. Social media was flooded with photos of Ssuubi at Makerere University’s University Hall residence, eliciting mixed reactions.
However, the tide turned for Ssuubi earlier this month when he surfaced as an employee of Uganda Baati, one of the region’s prominent iron sheets manufacturing companies. His journey, from facing ridicule to securing employment, has transformed into a sweet testimony.
Despite his modest beginnings at Makerere University, often referred to as East Africa’s heart of academic excellence, Ssuubi is now leaving with flying colors, graduating with a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Congratulatory messages continue to pour in for the popularly beloved Henry Ssuubi.
Congratulations to Henry Ssuubi on this remarkable achievement!
