When Mama Phina’s nude photos appeared on the cover page of Red-pepper, she comfortably stated; “Just like any other person, I have a right to take off my clothes and have some great feel of the fresh air without any worries in the world.” Many Ugandans did not realize that she was hinting at being a nudist.
Traditional healers in Uganda are known for being fans of nudism; they even take off their clothes and advise followers to undress while smoking the pipe because the gods listen better when people are in the Adam wear.
We have heard other Nudists like Doreen Kabareebe, a bikini model who rose out of Masaka as a Miss Uganda winner of sorts in that region. When she appeared pantyless showing off her great bums, being embraced by Chameleone, everyone went crazy about her name. But she had managed to take the step many Ugandans wish to take.
Many Ugandans yearn to show off their bodies but they have imprisoned themselves about what society will say and how society will judge them. The only reason Bikini nights are super popular and outstandingly attended is because Ugandans are naturally nudists.
The Auto-spa car wash in Muyenga today earns more money than any other washing bay in Kampala because of the Bikini car washers.
For some nudists like Denzel, the chap who represented us in the Big Brother house, it’s about getting comfortable with showing off your body. Denzel explained his nudism on TV saying; “As a child I grew up very insecure about my body so I was determined to do something to conquer this insecurity.”
Nudism enables many people to get in touch with their inner self, to appreciate themselves to the core and come to like the fact that God made them that way and show off how God made them.
Some moralists may say it’s bad, but actually, the Nude Church in USA will soon open a branch in Uganda to enable people appreciate this fact of nudism connecting one to their greater self and helping people becoming more conscious of life and how sweet it is.
Nudism does not imply sex, nudism does not imply immorality or a spoiled generation, nudism implies a more confident, a more aware generation.
Look around all the parties, the clubs, it’s all about nudism, it’s the trend. In San Francisco, where yours truly lived for a year, clothes are not a big expense to worry about. In broad-day light, men and women walk around naked.
When I set foot in San Francisco, I could not imagine myself stripping in broad-day light, but the temperatures in the area just get you following the trends, and once you begin, you never want to let go of nudism. It thus seems that in the next 5 years, we may not need clothes in Uganda. We are likely to spend less on these attires.
First of all, much of the conservative generation will be dead, secondly, the Ortega Generation will be in control, and this is a liberal generation that does not judge people. We do not call people bad sinners simply because they sin differently than we do.
With pantyless being the party code in all night clubs around town, with the mini-skirt bill out of the way, we may comfortably say that nudism has matured in Uganda. After all, our ancestors only used to cover that middle part and the breast area, in Karamoja, nudism is a socially accepted norm.
Nudism does not imply sex; it’s about people who are comfortable in their own skin, who appreciate who God made them to be.
