Speculation about a rift between Ugandan music giants Eddy Kenzo and Bebe Cool has reignited following President Yoweri Museveni’s remarks during a national address over the weekend.

The President commended Eddy Kenzo for his outstanding contribution to promoting Ugandan music internationally, highlighting his role in raising the country’s profile on the global stage.
However, Museveni also made a subtle but pointed comment about a recording studio project previously proposed by Bebe Cool that has yet to materialize, expressing surprise at its delay.
Industry insiders say this contrast has drawn public attention to a possible tension between the two artists, both of whom have shaped Uganda’s music landscape for over a decade. Sources close to the music scene point to a long-standing divergence in their philosophies.
Bebe Cool often pushes for professional branding and business-minded strategies among local musicians, while Eddy Kenzo champions grassroots talent and broad accessibility.
