Two wannabe tech reporters (or vandals, depending on your viewpoint) have taken concerns about the iPhone 6 Plus into their own hands – literally – by going into an Apple store and attempting to bend one.
The teenage boys, filming undercover, used such force that the smartphone’s screen popped out. They had to push it back in without attracting suspicion in the bustling shop.
Afterwards, the pair made a quick exit because ‘they would have ended up paying for it’.
They gingerly attempted to damage the iPhone 6 Plus at first, but as they gained confidence that nobody was watching, more strength was used to prove that the aluminium casing is malleable.
After damaging the device, one of the teenagers showed how the iPhone’s display had come loose from the rest of the gadget, prompting his accomplice to nervously tell him to ‘calm down, calm down, calm down’.
Once the theory was proven, they then asked a shop worker whether or not an iPhone 6 Plus could bend – but as you would expect, the staffer denied the rumours.
Following on from the countless negative articles about ‘bendgate’, it seems several people have tried to bend the demo iPhones in Apple Stores across the UK.
Damaged iPhone 6 Pluses have been seen in shops, and some even managed to bend the smaller iPhone 6, which is allegedly less prone to the problem.
One of the teenagers involved in these GIFs, who we’re not naming, said: ‘The reason why we were laughing was because it was really funny. We were in the Apple store bending and breaking their iPhone, which I guess is criminal damage but I don’t even care, to be honest.
‘It’s Apple’s fault – they are false advertising, saying it’s the best iPhone but clearly it’s not if it can bend in your hands or your pocket. It’s just ridiculous.
‘If this gets really good feedback, we’re happy go back and do it again. Apple: you need to fix this, it’s just f****** stupid.’
