Team No Sleep musicians Bakri and Akay who did a song together called ‘Tondabisa’ have explained their musical direction among other things. Although the two noted that Ugandans have not yet received them well as a singing duo, they are moving according to plan and building a career together just like Radio and Weasel.
When they were asked what direction the two are taking musically, the two confirmed that they will remain together as a duo come what may. “So far everything has been moving according to plan, though some people have failed to understand the fact that Uganda can have more than one singing duo, which shouldn’t be the case. Before Radio and Weasel, we had Mega Dee and Menton Krono, Benon and Vampos, and other duos,” Akay said.
The two singers praised their manager Jeff Kiwa despite the fact that he has been involved in many fights around town. “A lot of things happened but then let’s not forget the positives. Jeff groomed the Goodlyfe guys from scratch to the top, and I think every artiste would like to work with a proper manager like Jeff,” Bakri said.
Akay who was known as AK47 while at Dr. Jose Chameleone’s Leone Island said that his brother’s music crew was overcrowded and he wanted a breath of fresh air in a new group. “Leone Island had very many artistes with one manager, so it wasn’t easy for him to balance his work among all of us. I decided to have one manager who would concentrate on only two artistes and it is working out now,” Ak47 noted.
The duo who have 5 tracks together are working on more music for their fans and promised nothing but the very best.
