Tanzanian music elite Ali Kiba has requested his fans to vote for his long time nemesis Diamond Platnumz in all categories the Zigo star has been nominated in – an act that many have termed “an outright noble gesture.”
Speaking on Planet Bongo Show on EATV recently, Ali Kiba reached out to his vast fan-base to cast their votes for Diamond who has been nominated for a BET Award in the category of Best International Act Africa. The event’s gala will take place on June 26.
For a long time, Ali Kiba and Diamond Platnumz have been deemed as enemies in the music world with Ali Kiba in January, 2016 claiming that Diamond Platnumz does everything within his capability to suppress his international breakthrough.
Diamond Platnumz was quoted by Tanzanian media as saying: “If I decide a Tanzanian’s music video won’t be played on certain international media, it won’t see the light of day. Many international television stations listen and subscribe to my opinion. I have however not given any negative review for a Tanzanian artiste; though I can if I so wish.”
Ali Kiba thereafter disapproved Diamond’s revelation in an interview on XXL’s 255 show.
“He (Diamond) doesn’t carry the talent of everyone with him; each singer has his own talent, and has the right to showcase his work. Music nowadays is done for business; so, it would be unfair for only one person to determine if a country’s singers’ music videos meet the threshold to be played on international media – considering we put a lot of money in producing those videos.”
Ali Kiba would in April, 2016 refute “beef” claims against Diamond Platnumz – and even reveal that he is ready to work with the Bongo Flava cog.
“Diamond is a good artist. He does good songs .If an opportunity to record a collabo with Diamond comes up, I will take part in it. I will do that with a clean heart’’ Ali Kiba told Clouds FM presenter Gardner G. Habash ‘Captain’.
Well, it seems the musical foes are working on a constructive project to see their fans integrating with Kiba playing the big boy role.
