Tanzania’s head coach sacked after Cranes’ humiliation

Tanzania have sacked their head coach, Martin Ignatius following Uganda Cranes’ humiliation at the Amman Stadium in Zanzibar during Saturday’s 3-0 defeat in the first leg of the Africa Nations Champions (CHAN) qualifier.

The Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) sacked the Dutchman after becoming frustrated with his poor results.

This comes after losing had become a habit for the Tanzanian national team having lost all their games at the Cosafa Cup before being thrashed by Egypt 3-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last weekend.

“TFF announces the termination of employment of current coach Mart Nooij together with his entire technical bench with immediate effect following the spate of poor results involving the national team Taifa Stars,” TFF president Jamal Malinzi said.

Tanzania face off with Uganda in a fortnight for their return leg in the CHAN qualifiers.
